To Praise and Proclaim Jesus Christ

It all really does come back to this. In Acts 4:12 Peter says of Jesus: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” We at St. Aidan’s wholeheartedly believe this, and our mission as a church is to Praise and Proclaim Jesus Christ.

Vision

St. Aidan’s is called to be a church that makes and equips disciples of all generations who faithfully share the saving love of Jesus Christ.

The life of the Christian is all about Jesus. He is the at the centre of all we do and all we believe. Reconciliation with God and genuine life are found only through Christ, and so we believe that God has called us to be a church that teaches people about the saving love of Jesus. We wish to see each person become a mature believer in Christ and faithfully follow him in all parts of their lives. This Good News is not just for some but for all people of all generations.

Values

A Gospel People

The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is the truth that he came to live with us and die for us. In his perfect, sufficient, once-for-all sacrifice, he reconciled sinners to our Heavenly Father. In his name alone, by his grace, through faith, we are given the gift of eternal life.

A Bible People

The Bible is God’s Word written and is the final authority for Christian belief. We believe it is crucial for Christians to be biblically literate and that their beliefs are formed by God’s Word.

A Worshiping People

People were made to worship. We place a high value on the right worship of God. As an Anglican church we use liturgy to guide our worship, but we don’t just go through the motions. We believe that true worship is genuine and led by the Holy Spirit.

A Praying People

God wants people to know him, and prayer is the means by which we spend time with him. At St Aidan’s we pray a lot! We pray when we give thanks. We pray when we are in need. We pray for others. We pray for healing. We pray for Jesus to be known. We pray because we love our Father.

A Discipling People

Jesus commanded his followers to make disciples of all nations. We believe that all generations, from the youngest to the oldest, need to be equipped to be disciples of Jesus. We disciple people through worship, prayer, Bible study, and Sunday school classes, so that all are equipped to live lives that are shaped by Christ to reveal Christ to others. Discipleship begins with knowing Jesus, and so we begin by faithfully witnessing Jesus to those who don’t know him.

A People Together

Christians are meant to be a people together. Since everyone has a past and a story, it can be intimidating to share our lives with one another. But in Jesus, people find a home and a people to belong to, even with our past “stuff.” It is our desire to see our parishioners invest in each other’s lives, fulfilling Jesus’s call to love one another through both the good times and the challenging ones.
